Dropped frames and Vegas

I've got Sony Movie Studio Platinum and used this program to captured and edit some home video I took a couple of days ago. After a couple of minutes I noticed that there were many dropped frames of footage. Now, when I edit my downloaded video can I use some of the dropped frames, or will it really affect the overall outcome of produced video? This video I want to edit is of my new born daughter, so its really important that I'm able to have some of this footage on a dvd. I'm hoping that I'll find some way to get this stuff straightened out, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. Have any of you DV info members used dropped footage in any videos you've produced? If so, how did you implement the dropped footage into your finished video?

Turn off all other applicationd and capture it again. Something disk-intensive may have been running in the background.
