Need a Glow Filter

I am running Vegas 6, and I need a good glow or softening filter. I know there is one for FCP, that allows you to choose a color, using the eyedropper and then blow out the color. It also has the effect of softening up faces sorta like a pro mist filter would do. Any one know of a plugin for this that you can personally speak to.

Vegas has a Glow FX built-in. You might also look at the tools available at newbluefx.com

http://newbluefx.com/ has an effect filter called Halovision that's still available as a free download.

The light rays plugin can act like a diffusion filter, if you apply it very lightly. I can't remember the details at the moment, but the strength needs to be way down, while the other setting. . .oh hell, I don't remember.

It'll distort the image just slightly, but it works pretty well.

Unsharp mask is another way to do a soft focus glow effect.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooh! I never knew about the unsharp mask. Didn't even know what it was. Never touched it.

USM is great for sharpening yr videos.. u will use it a lot in photoshop to touch up the photos.. contradicting name isnt it??

Peter Jefferson August 4th, 2006 06:00 AM

try the unsharp with a duplicated overlay using a cookie cutter for that lovely fake DoF look.. ;)

Glenn Chan August 4th, 2006 09:54 PM

In Vegas, unsharp mask will actually make things unsharp since you can put in negative values. You can't do this in Photoshop.

Yeah thaz something new. Great info there.. that suggestion on the DOF with the cookie is also an interesting idea.. Gotta try it out! Thks again for the great info..
