Vegas Announcement + Stuff to see at NAB

The SMS team announced that they're working on a 64-bit version of Vegas, which means:
-improved performance (because there's more registers, and some other stuff)
-You can use more than 2GB for RAM previews (I can't remember what the limits were)

2- Vegas stuff at NAB:

Sony Creative Software booth (not the same as Sony Broadcast, or Sony Electronics)- SL2823

VASST booth - SL7426
Books and DVDs are being sold at the bookstores, 20% off
All software and products at vasst.com are 20% off; use code NAB07
Or, stay away from both places to protect your wallet. ;)

Can't think of any other Vegas stuff at NAB right now. Please add to this list.

oh is that all?

I would have thought 64bit would be a natural progression from 32bit..

ho hum

The Whiz kids in Madison are taking the initiative and making the announcement - this is huge IMO - No one else has announced this at NAB from what I can tell so far.

I run XP Pro 64bit and using 32bit apps has been ok, but to have a native 64bit NLE gives me serious food for thought to finally start learning Vegas more in depth. I'm an Adobe Suite user, but have always tried to find a reason to use Vegas (I am a huge fan of Acid Pro and Cinescore for Audio), but couldn't wrap my head around using Vegas as a Video editor - now may be the time to do so.

Glen,

Thanks for the heads-up on this. I just bought the vegas training dvd bundle and the hdv book from the vasst website and was able to save a lot.

Now I just have to wait for them to arrive :( :(

HD Disc output?

Any hints on when Vegas/Architect will include output to Blueray ? Thanks -PK

Hey Vegas developers...........how about some AVCHD support before summer arrives.

Thanks. Frustrated Nero/Elecard/Cineform user.

Yes, extensively. It works for some people, others are having difficulty getting it to function. Mr. Newman has been very helpful in trying to get it to work on my PC, but ultimately, no success.

Eventually, maybe.

Derek, I think Sony released a press release saying that they intend on adding AVC HD support.
