I heard from Tiffen today approving their packaging of the 2nd Unit filter set so it should be out in the next few weeks. And thanks for the e-mails on the issue at 2nd Unit.tv. I'm happy that those of you who couldn't wait for the pre-packaged set are happy with the filters you bought individually. Big companies are like battleships turning around. It takes a while but at least Tiffen listens to what you wanted and responded with a new set of filters for the independent cameraperson wanting a good, basic kit.

I need to correct this statement a bit. The camera head is indeed 4:2:2 and a live capture off of the HDSDI jack will yield 4:2:2 uncompressed HD.

What gets recorded to disc is 4:2:0 MPEG2 and will be upsampled to 4:2:2 uncompressed when played back via HDSDI.

Greg is right right but 4:2:2 or 4:2:0, I think the NAB viewers will be amazed at what's possible with the 350 and the right glass and lighting. We're going to be playing a game of "find the green screen" at NAB during our Sony and Adobe presentations; a quick $100 to anyone who can spot any of the five scenes that have been chroma keyed. All of the footage was captured to disk at 25 and 35mb/s editied and cut back to Blu-Ray which means 4:2:0 so, as they say, if you're in the neighborhood...
