TD10 Macro Test

I just added a couple of macro shots into an edit made with the Sony TD10 - nothing dramatic, but do they work?

Interesting lack of observations, so I guess the two macro shots of the flowers are "acceptable" when mixed with real 3D clips - the two close ups are of course fake, simply created in a $50 programme from 1080 50p 2D footage from my TD10.

Won't bother buying some expensive two camera mirror rig for those tiny IO shots.

Interesting test, Paul. I particularly like the look of the white and yellow flower.

I was trying to figure out how you managed the second flower shot, which has almost no depth on the flower itself, but only some on the backgrounds. That seemed counter-intuitive for a macro shot from that IA. I tried to shoot CU of a snake with my TD-10 (without adapter) from about 8 inches away, but the resulting two images were far too disparate to merge. My solution ended up being like yours, convert those shots using software. But I think that true stereo will be far more impressive, if properly scaled. All the minute texture of the flowers could emerge, element upon element.

I am still hoping to shoot 3D of some ants and/or bees, eventually, so I'd be interested in some actual stereo that's scaled down to that size. I know that Imax recently used a specially designed boroscope to shoot close-ups on their 3d butterfly migration doc, but I don't know the name of the camera, or the supplier.

Anyone else have any experience or insight into capturing (true) stereo macro footage?
