A faint glimmer of hope for glasses free 3D viewing

Lenovo has launched a new 27-inch, 4K monitor you can do this with.

Limited to one person viewing at a time, uses lenticular lens and real time eye tracking tech to do it, tiny bit soft on the edges when viewed from the side (which isn't an issue when used as intended) but otherwise works. Interestingly, the lenticular lens is also switchable thus enabling you to go back to regular 4K monitor use. Currently targeted at 3D content creators and developers.

Interesting thanks Andrew. There’s a huge untapped market that’s just been tapped.

Thanks interesting Andrew, there’s a huge untapped market that’s just been tapped. They’ll advertise the beejeesus out of it, before the others arrive.

At Expo 2010 in Shanghai, Samsung were presenting their new glasses free 3D TV set. There was a huge queue to view their 3D demo program but I saw the viewers couldn’t really sit too far from the 3D centre of the picture, which is probably why we don’t see it today.

Cheers.
