The new Shoot35 CINEfocus r3
I recently had the chance to review the new Shoot35 CINEfocus r3 follow focus. It has some really innovative design features so I thought you might be interested in taking a look...
Shoot35 CINEfocus r3 review | Paul Joy – Freelance Filmmaker Here's a quick overview video I put together whilst doing the review. |
Re: The new Shoot35 CINEfocus r3
Looks very good, and well done on the review.
I see that it only uses a drive gear with 0.8 pitch. My Canon XF300 uses 0.5 pitch, so I was wondering if there is the chance to swap gears with this unit. |
Re: The new Shoot35 CINEfocus r3
It's certainly possible to change drive gears but I'm not sure if Shoot35 are planning additional gear pitches. I'll ask and get back to you. Failing that you could use one of the Flexigears as long as the diameter of the lens isn't more than 100mm

Re: The new Shoot35 CINEfocus r3
Thanks Paul, but Flexigears are of no use on a built-in lens, since you cant't wrap it completely
around because of the servo controls. |
Re: The new Shoot35 CINEfocus r3
Oh right, I haven't used the XF300 so I wasn't aware of that Robin, looking at images of the camera I can see what you mean. I'll let you know as soon as I get a response from Shoot35.

Re: The new Shoot35 CINEfocus r3
Hi Robin, I heard back from Wayne at Shoot35 about this, he's saying that the drive gear on the r3 was custom built so he might look at creating alternative options in the future but has no immediate plans or timescales on it at the moment.

These look good but they need U.S distribution or resellers.
