24p and 30p Question

Hi! It seems to me that this question should have been asked before, but I couldn't find much on it.

I know that you can combine 24p and 30p footage in the same timeline in Premiere. However, what happens to the 30p footage when it is rendered from a 24p timeline?

Here's the reason I'm asking. I have a movie short in the works, and at one point, the main character is nearly driven crazy. To show his "franticness" - his heightened awareness of his surroundings and a sense of "hyper-reality" - I am thinking of shooting the "frantic" part in 30p. The rest of the movie would be shot in 24p. Is this going to work? Will the 30p footage be slowed down and, if it isn't, will it render correctly when sent to the DVD from a 24p timeline? More importantly (since I don't actually have my XL2 yet and therefore haven't been able to experiment with and actually see the difference between 30p and 24p), will this lend the effect that I think it will? Oh, and what about progressive advanced: is that setting limited to 24 fps or can you also do 30pa?

Of course, when it's all said and done, maybe this is one of those ideas that sound good in theory but don't really work that well in the real world.

If you're using a JVC HD camera (like I am) then don't bother with 24p in Premiere CS3 as they broke it.

Um... come again? Anyway, I'm not - I'll be using an XL2.
