Why is my 1024x768 AVI cropped when I import it?

I created a video (avi) with a resolution of 1024x768. But when I import it in to PP(CS3), the video is cropped? How do I prevent this from happening?

Thanks!

Hi Ming,

Is this SD or HD? And what resolution?

Is your project widescreen (16:9) or standard (4:3)? If it's widescreen, you won't fill the sides of the screen unless you stretch it.

I think the video is not being scaled down, it's being displayed in original size, but your video settings are lower than 1024x768, so it appears cropped. Perhaps it's just occupying a larger area than your video size contains? You can either scale it down manually, or I believe you can right click on the footage in the file bin and set it to match the project size, which will scale it down automatically. That's a better option for multiple clips because you can select them all and then scale them all at once.

If this is a 720x480 project, 800x600 might be a better choice, as there's less blurring when scaling down, because it's scaling a lower percentage.

Hope this helps! :)
Eric
