Adobe Premier Elements 3.0 backing up projects

We're using Adobe Premier Elements 3.0 to learn editing before taking the plunge to Adobe Pro. I've been saving the video project files on the hard drive but need to move them to an external hard or other storage.

What's the best way to archive the video projects? DVD? External hard drive?

Thanks

I have Pro/CS3 and from the last few versions, it has the Project Manager. I am not sure at all if Elements has this, but I basically back up the new project to a dvd. There were issues with the manager I was having but it definately saves on harddrive space. I will say that I really have only had to go back into a few of the orginal projects I have done, and for my system, they worked fine. Its the newer versions of Premiere honestly that I worry about.

But it depends on your external also and how much space it has, and what else you will be putting on it. For example, on my external, I place all of my system drivers and misc junk for getting my system up and running once again in case of a crash or something bad. I also back the vast majority of my system drivers and S/N's to both a small flash and 4 gig mini harddrive for safe keeping. Because of this, I don't backup to an external. However, with the sizes and prices of externals these days, this is not a bad option either.

Either way, even if you did both, you would probably be fine and you would have a level of security in case say one didn't work, you have an emergency plan. I would say after all this babble to do both if you can! Especially for critical projects or those you would want to get back into some time in the future.
