Isn't this handled by the automatic update process whenever you use Premiere Pro or another program?
Is there some special link to find it on their site? Mike |
Interestingly, the Updater says there are no new updates available beyond version 3.1.0, and the Update page on the Adobe website shows the same thing.
Does anyone have a link? |
People are finding it through the Bridge Updater.

What Bridge updater--where?
|
I don't think it matters which app you use to access the Updater; you should be able to access the Updater through any CS3 app (Help>Updates). Until a few minutes ago, even using Bridge I got the results described above, but as of now the updates are coming in.
Note that while the geniuses at Adobe require you to launch an app to use the Updater, you must then close the app before you can install the updates. You can configure the Updater to run either weekly or monthly and you can select which apps to check for, but it doesn't automatically run each time you start the app if you use the app daily. |
Ya, it is just the normal update that works when you open any program. It was already running when I checked.

One last note to all. I have seen many posts here in this forum about Adobe not updating and fixing bugs in their programs. You should know that CS3 does this automatically, in the back ground, whenever you open any of their programs. It even has a feature that only does it when your internet connection is idle if you choose.
No more complaints about that! :) Mike |
Mike, can you tell us where to manage those settings? The only options I get are weekly or monthly in the Updater Preferences window. Is there somewhere else we can access this to have it check every time the program is opened?
|
When the update window comes up, there is a box to check if you wish it to run only when you internet connection is idle.
Mike |
Interesting -- not on mine. Are you using CS3?
I can only access the preferences panel AFTER I've looked for updates and found none... then it lets me choose "Preferences" where I can only choose between Weekly or Monthly, Automatic or "Ask Me" download, and select which programs. Here's the screen I get (see attachment below): |
It's in the window when it is receiving the update.

Got it. Have to look for that next time it actually finds something.

OT - Flood update
Hey Adam, I know it's a little off topic, ... how'd you do in the floods this week. I live up the hill in Kingsgate, but Woodinville got spanked pretty bad.

does anyone know why adobe has already released 3 updated to premiere pro CS3, when versions 1, 1.5 and 2 had none or only one update for the whole time they have been out.
either its they released it to early; or they support their products better now, or the other versions were already the best they could be.? any thoughts. its good to see the updates. just curios |

so is this the fix to be released in December that completes the compatibility with Leopard? Is it available for AE, Soundbooth etc as well?
|
The update covers all products at once. I was watching while it downloaded/installed and it did have Leopard compatibility as one of the parts.

I have problems with Ppro non-stop audio conforming in large projects. Also, audio always go out of sync for those HDV .mpeg file captured. I was hoping Adobe will address and fix those issue in this update. Sad!

Also the auto updater is not new, but frequent updates is a new turn for Adobe. PPro 1.5.1 is the only feature enhancing update that was released prior to CS3. Adobe seems to have changed their release strategy, to keep their products more up to date. Good in many ways, but it makes it more difficult for companies like Matrox and Cineform to ensure that their extensions to Premiere are fully compatible and up to date. |

Premiere CS3.1.1 lost MPEG2 input cabability
Importing a M2T Mpeg2 file (no problem with Vegas Pro 8a and Nero) created the following message
Premiere Pro has ancountered an error (..\..\Src\Time.cpp-105) This worked definitely with the same file in PPro CS 3.1.0. My blues: Besides neglecting MPEG4 already I assume in the next update Adobe will remove also the avi import to make this program finally teethless resource monster. hbernhard |

time.cpp-105
Helmut,
Start Premiere while holding down the SHIFT key. This causes Premiere to re-index its plugins and seems to fix that problem. There's a complete thread here: http://dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=105196 that goes into more detail. Good luck! |
Mac version wasn`t released yet? I only find Mac 3.1.0 ....windows 3.1.1
|
Update 3.1.1 works now for me
the hint regarding pressing the shift key and the other suggestions, i.e. to erase the media cache and to create a new project with 3.1.1. importing the M2T file worked perfect for me and I'm back on track. Thanks!
