Premiere CS3 playback issues

I upgraded from Premiere Pro 2.0 to CS3 and am experiencing some major playback issues.

system specs:
AMD 3.2 GHz
2Gigs RAM
500 GB SATA drive
80 GB system drive
Windows XP Pro SP2
RADEON 9250 Graphics Card
Page File - 3070 - 4500 set to my SATA drive

I get jittery or dropped frame playback when playing from the timeline. I would understand this in HD but it is happening to me even in SD, a basic DV NTSC timeline will sometimes freeze picture while continuing to play audio fine, like it is dropping frames - not just one or two frames but entire seconds.

Is there any settings that need to be adjusted, patches, or issues others have run into. This happens to me not long after I open premiere.

You've downloaded and installed all the Adobe updates, yes? And have shut down all other processes on your PC while using Premiere?

I have also experienced problems with Premiere CS3 with a system that easily should be able to handle it.

The major problem I have had is that Premiere will not refresh any of the windows (Timeline, Project Window, Preview) and I am stuck with no other option than to close the program and reopen it. And I have installed all the updates. I know I cannot run Premiere and AE together, which really hurts the workflow between the two programs.

Ryan, what's your screen resolution?

Taky,

1680 x 1050.

From the amount of people complaining about the same problem, one might think this is a Premiere CS3 bug. (look at the adobe forum).

Change to "draf" quality in the timeline preview monitor and playback should be much better.

Thanks,

Johnnie
