Moving from FCP to Premiere: the blog

As I'm continuing to test the viability and advantages of migrating from FCP to Premiere Pro CS3, I decided to document my finding, and the rationale behind it, in my blog. In this way others who contemplating the same move will have an impartial source of information that they can use to assess to the feasibility of "jumping boat". As I am a long time FCP user I have no secret agenda in doing this, in fact it would be much easier to stay in familiar territory. The reason for the migration is to get a better, more integrated, environment for post-processing. I'm still with FCP 5.x as the upgrade to Studio 2.0 never looked particularly attractive. As I'm contemplating paying for the next version of the NLE I thought I might as well use that money to get a more improved post-suite.

Thanks Paolo, your blog is a nice read and your makeup video is really inspiring. I use Premiere every day and while I bump into its quirks and shortcomings (and there are many!) every now and then, I like its editing workflow the best, and I`ve tried all the main NLEs on market.

Thank you Jiri. Yes, every tool has shortcoming, software is just extremely complicated to write and NLEs are very complex applications. I'm actually going to approach the subject of editing workflow soon because I think it's necessary that we re-think in part how we tackle editing in the digital world.
