easy way to fix sound effects on ppro cs4?
Hi,
I am kinda new to sound editing, i am just wondering if there is any easy way to fix some sound effects files (e.g. some car horn, telephone ring and box dropping wav files) on premiere pro cs4, I mean, with their built-in audio effects/transition tools? what do you suggest to do to incorporate those sound to the footage better so that they don't sound awkward and detached? Right now I am using different tracks for effects, music and ambient sound, so I have the ambient sound line up on a separate track, but I hope the effects can blend in. those effects are recorded in a room so you can feel they don't match the exterior setting of the footage and ambient sound.. thanks |
Either re-record the efx outside, or buy them from a professional sound efx company such as Sound Dogs.

i got a lot of the sound effects files already, now I am just wondering how can i mix the effect better with the ambient sound. i know i can use the reverb effect for interior scene, and it works, but i am just wondering for exterior (forest), which audio effect work best?
thanks |

Brian gave you the right answer. There is no practical way to remove the room sound from sound effects if they were recorded with them. If you absolutely cannot re-record them dry, it may help a little to mix them lower, and cut as much of the low frequencies in them as possible without it destroying the sound. A tight downward expander, carefully adjusted, may remove a little of the ring from the room. -MD |
