Merging audio and video

Let me say this loud and clear: I'm a VJ primarily and NOT by any means an editor :-) I do news and I can cut a 20 second clip from my takes, and that's about it...

So - once in a while I by mistake selects an export setting in Premiere CS4's media encoder, which results in separate video and audio files (m2v and wav-files).

Times often don't allow for a re-export, so I wondered, if there's a clever little utility on the market that would allow me to join the video and audio to a single file after export. No re-sync is nessesary - just want to join the two "separated children".

Any hints....????

Hi Peter
I doubt unfortunately that any 'utility' out there would be any quicker than simply re-export.
A 20 second clip will render really quickly in CS4.

I use a series of custom settings in Premiere to export depending on whether I want DV, HDV, WMV or Mpeg2 whatever.. Its easy then to call up the preset and export knowing I don't have to go through and set it all up. When in a hurry it is easy to miss a bit or set the wrong settings.

cheers
Gareth

Hi Gareth,

Thanks for the reply. I think I will go with your suggestion and create a couple of presets, then.

And you are right - it doesn't take long to re-render my small news clips, but sometimes I first find out about the missing sound after the clip has been transferred to the TV station via Internet - and with an upload speed of 1024 it suddenly takes a lot of time to redo the rendering and upload.

So it would have been nifty, if I just could provide the station with a little "merge-utility" instead ;.)

BUT - I just must learn to check AND doublecheck - or create presets :-)

Kind regards

Peter

Peter,

All you need to do is to keep multiplexing turned on.
