Premiere Preview files not saving/ rendering slow
 

Hey guys,

Like the title says, I am having issues rendering some Magic Bullet Looks effects. They are rendering extremely slow for preview and also, if I close the project and re-open, I have to re-render. Please help. Thanks.

My system is :
AMD Phenom Quad2.5
6gb ram
win7-64bit
premiere cs3

what videocard do you have?
Magic Bullet Looks' rendertime depends a lot on your graphic/videocard.
Another thing that might slow down your rendering is using an external USB harddrive where both the project and the previewfiles are stored. That's because the data has to go up and down the stream through the (narrow) USB pipeline.

But why the previews aren't saved is a bit of a mystery to me.
A wild guess:
Do you use a extrenal drive with a designated drive letter (G: H: Z: or whatever) or with a random letter, depending on how many drives are connected at the moment?
If the latter is the moment and you don't store previewfiles in the same location as the project, the path may get messed up.

Thanks for your response Walter. I am using inboard graphics, through DVI. I guess, I will need to upgrade soon. I do have external devices connected, but they are always connected and not used for the project. I think I may have deleted the preview files manually and that may have thrown it off. I won't do that again and I just need to get through this project. Lesson learned and hope it is not re-occurring. Thanks again.

The onboard graphics is probably the bottleneck for Magic Bullet, indeed.
