Premiere Pro exports coming out blue
 

My project exports out mpeg-dvd without a hitch but when I try exporting a master / archive large format like quicktime animation, parts of the final video have a blue tint as if only the blue channel is showing. Is this an alpha related issue or a codec problem? I'm befuddled!

Does the blue tint show up in the AME preview window, or is it a function of pure playback??

I can see it in the adobe media encoder preview window too. I checked the actual video after export to make sure it wasnt a preview window mishap but the blue is in the final video as well. It doesn't happen with say mpeg exports but I didn't know if that makes it a definite quicktime codec issue or if it's an alpha issue if quicktime displays alpha and mpeg doesn't?

How about PC Uncompressed vs Quicktime Uncompressed? This might be a Quicktime issue, but first check native codecs.

It's definitely quicktime related, everything else exports normal. I just wanted a master / archive copy for backup so I can delete the project files eating up my hard drive. I'm exporting out a lossless lagarith avi as a backup, anybody know if that is ok? The original footage is 1080 24p, and I want a master copy that can go to betasp//digibeta and even 35mm if needed.

If you want to retain quality, I'd go for 10-bit uncompressed avi. You can also try to download codecs from Blackmagic Design and export as 10-bit Uncompressed 4:2:2. Or you can invest in Cineform (it's only $129 for the basic version) and export it there - less space, excellent quality.

great suggestions, I think I'll try out that cineform. For some reason my quicktime is shot, and I even had an avi export turn out blue. I tried lagarith and it dropped frames throughout unfortunately because the file size was nice, and there was no blue.

try exporting to a 8 bit codec and see if the problem goes away

and if you have hardware CUDA on, try software CUDA instead ( project settings )

this could in face be a problem with a 10bit codec not being seen correctly by the exporter

both 8 and 10 bit gave me blue. So did avi eventually. I never solved this problem. I ended up exporting out a huge .tif sequence (about 1000 gigs) for my archive copy. If anyone else has a solution to this please let me know.

Do you have an AJA Kona card in your system? If so, update to the latest drivers. That should solve the issue you're having.

nope nvidia and i updated those drivers with no luck resolving mr blue man

Maybe you have this covered:
1. Uninstall QT and reinstall latest version.
2. Open another project with a sample footage and export to QT - is the problem with this particular project or any and every project (different source files/frame rates, etc)?
3. Export a black and white shot - does it still show a blue cast?
