Premiere Pro CS5.03 sometimes Not Responding

Sometimes while using premiere The program will go to a not responding phase. If I wait it out it will almost always go away and I can start working again. What could I do to help fix this? Faster Hard drives? like a raid?

My PC is pretty good.
Intel i7 920
8gig of Ram
Nvidia GTS 240
C drive for programs and OS windows 7 pro
Separate drive for Video Files.

The not responding message is a Windows message. It simply means that Windows is occupied with other things. What can you do:

1. Tune your system, turn off indexing, anti-whatever software, unneeded services, etc.
2. Get another hard disk
3. Upgrade your memory to at least 12 GB

Dave,

I have the same problem. I have disabled the Anti-Virus software and I built the computer, so there is no additional unnecessary software running in the background. I am editing HD 3 tracks (mix of AVCHD and XD CAM EX). It worked fine for the first 10 minutes, but now almost every command freezes the computer for a 30 -60 seconds or so. When it goes into 'non-responding' status the task manager shows maybe 36% CPU and maybe 3.5GB memory usage. I am at a loss here.. My computer is fairly strong.

I7 920
P6T ASUS
12 GIG memory
GTX 460
4 hard drives 7200rpm
