Native HDV editing?

I have a question about Native HDV editing in Premiere Pro 2.0.

First off, has anyone performed extensive editing in the native format, and if so, how well does it perform on the timeline, how long does it take to render transitions, etc and what kind of a system were you using?

Has anyone attempted to edit native HDV with a Core Duo Intel laptop?

Also, what about monitoring? If you are working in native HDV format, do you have a real time video signal sent out the firewire port when scrubbing or playing the timeline, similar to how standard def DV worked? If not, how can we get real time monitoring on an external professional broadcast monitor with HD-SDI inputs?

I'm pretty well versed in the advantages of Cineform, but I really need to know if native HDV editing is a viable option, assuming we have enough CPU horsepower behind it.

Thanks guys!
Jeremy

I don't know if premier support native hdv editing, but for example ulead's and pinnacle editors support it, and if you have a Pc (normal or low), for expmple mine is athlon xp 2600 you can use womble mpeg wizard and you can edit hdv without a problem. You won't have the power of premier, but for "normal" editing is very goos chioce.(and they are cheap)
