I have somewhat limited experience with DVFilm Maker 2.2.

It seems to me that the 60i -> 24p converted files using Aspect HD codec via DVFilm exhibit some red tint and are slightly darker (comparing to normal 60i Aspect HD files as produced by Cineform's own HDLink m2t->avi utility.)

HDV, Premiere Pro, Intermediate Format for Sorenson Squeeze
 

Hi,

again another newbie question. Ok I edited my first footage with Premiere Pro and now I am sitting there and thinking about which format to use as the output format. I will need a good master that I can use with Sorenson Squeeze to produce different formats and compressions for the Web.

I assume I should use Microsoft AVI as the container but which codec(I have the Permiere standard codecs and DIVX 6) should I use. Or do I have to get a special codec for the intermediate Files. Can't go uncompressed, though :-)

2. should I stay with anamorphic pictures and 1440x1080 or switch during output to 1920x1080 square pixels.... As I guess square pixels are more common... or do I loose quality there?

Color Corrected Downconverted Premiere Still
 

I recently recorded my grandparents' 50th Anniversary. So since I don't get to do much personal color correction work I decided to take advantage of the opportunity. hey daniel... i noticed on your "myspace" that you have a "friend" named jim.. the guy giving the thumbs up. when i created my "myspace" account a few weeks ago to upload some audio that same guy was added in my friends list right as soon as the account was created.. weird... the guy must really like having lots of friends

His name is "Tom". He is the owner/operator of myspace. He started the craze. He is automatically added to everyone's friend list when you they sign up.

For the sake of factual accuracy, Tom does not own or operate MySpace (Fox does). Tom is not the founder either. I happen to know MySpace was founded by a larger more successful dot-com and designed to appear as if it were created by "Tom" and promoted via his viral marketing efforts. It should also be known that MySpace created it's initial userbase by spamming hundreds of thousands of users on usenets.

I will get off my pedestal now and go back to picking up chicks on mySpace.

Premiere CS3: best setting for HDV export

Can you please tell me what are the best settings for the HDV export in Adobe Premiere Pro CS3? I know that I have to use Adobe Media Encoder with MPEG2, but there are a lot of settings for it. I only want the best ones.

If you have After Effects CS3, that's the way to go.

1. Create a composition with you HD clip.
2. Create a DV clip with same lenth.
3. Drag your HD composition into the DV one.
4. Use transforation to scale to 45%.
5. Renger the DV composition to an MPG.

I'm still experimenting to get the best MPG encoding settings, but AE is great for downconverting.

"Best" means different things to different people. First explain what you want to do. Do you want to create a DVD? Uncompressed Master? Print to tape?

You're right. Sorry, but I was in a hurry. Well, I would like to create a video for my hard disk. So with no size limits...
What do you think of this settings in the Premiere CS3 Media Encoder? MPEG2 with preset 1440x1080i 25 High quality.
Are they optimal for creating an HDV video on my hard disk?

That would be full HDV quality, so it should look just as good as your original footage. I have also experimented with Windows Media and it comes out wonderful but I resize in Virtualdub, and only then encode either with Windows Media Encoder or Procoder.

I have another question: with my old great Sony DCR-VX2000 I was used to deinterlace the video when exporting it to give it a "cinema" style (you know what I mean)... Now, how can I deinterlace the HDV footage recorded with my FX1 in the Adobe Media Encoder? Do I have to use an external app, like DVFilm Maker?
