Auto Levels/color is strobe :-(

I was making some CC tests and after I exported a video using "auto levels", "auto color" and "auto contrast" the footage got a weird flickering/strobe effect that makes the whole video unusable. I tried the same thing on Premiere and After Effects. Does anyone know why might this be happening?

This appears to be a common bug in PPro. I don't know of any fix for it.

I think this is what is happening. Premiere analyzes each frame and then corrects it. If the material changes much from frame to frame it makes a different adjustment to each frame, which appears as the strobing that you are seeing. If you put a value in the 'Temporal Smothing' area of the Auto Color, Contrast or Levels corrector it will look at adjacent frames (depending on the number you put in the box) and apply an average correction, not based on just on a single frame, but on adjacent frames as well. This should make the correction smoother and prevent the strobing you are seeing.

Lloyd,

Yes, you are 100% correct, I ran into this very same issue weeks ago. I don't see why Adobe doesn't have a more usable default setting.

I would like to mention that the Matrox RT.X100 card does color correction on the fly with easier control. It's one of the card's strongest benefits.
