PAL to NTSC conversion...
 

Howdy! I have a request to post some video clips to an ftp site for some folks in China. Can I use Premiere 2.0 to convert NTSC footage to PAL?

I have done this from PAL to NTSC within Premiere Pro 2, so I believe it is possible the other way also.
But notice that the image quality will degrade.

Import your NTSC footage into a PAL project, and render to the format you want. Then the rendered file should be PAL.

Sorry to bump such an old thread but im the process of converting some NTSC footage into pal.

so all i have to do is create a new ntsc project (im using PP2 btw) bring in the footage and render it to 25fps.

are there any issues that i could arise from this?

When converting from NTSC to PAL:
You must create a PAL project, and import your NTSC video.

Then you can just "export movie" to create a PAL version of your video.
(or use the media encoder just as you would do with a regular NTSC project)

Like I said in the previous post, your final video will lose some picture quality.
You might want to check out DVfilm's Atlantis software.

This software reportedly gives better quality when converting between PAL and NTSC. (several people have mentioned Atlantis in other threads)
