Onine edit with Premiere Pro CS3 on PC and on MAC - transfering footage to and fro?

Could you edit the same project on a PC and then on a MAC?

So if someone had a PC with Adobe premiere pro CS3 and an Intel MAC with Premiere CS3 then theoretically - couldn't you transfer footage from one computer to the other and do an online edit back and forth? - if both computers had the same source footage on there hard drives...?

Or would you run into problems because Mac will not do NTFS? = ANd that means you could never capture video on a PC and then transfer that footage via external drive over to the Mac and continue editing your project you started on your PC?

I need to know...

The real issue is that Macs use Quicktime DV and PCs use DV AVI. I don't know that the Mac version of Premiere Pro is any different.

Any body else have knowledge regarding this? I'm interested in this question as well ....

Cheers,

Matthew.

I have both PC and Mac versions of Premiere CS3 at work.

It works. But you will lose realtime even in SD, as PC version cannot work with QuickTime in realtime and Mac version cannot work with DV AVI in realtime.

The situation might be different with HDV or Cineform, but I haven`t tried that yet. I tend to cut on PC and do motion graphics in After Effects on Mac.

Thank you Jiri

Nearly one entire year later, I finally get the response i was looking for. Thanks. Too bad it took so long to find out but thanks.

No problem Tyson. I kind of hoped the Apple version of Premiere would be more bug free (even if more bugs would make more sense), but it seems to behave the exact same way.

There is no output to WMV in Mac version of Adobe Media Encoder, though. That`s a shame!
