Good books on audio technique

I'm looking for suggestions on good books for audio technique. I'm a newbie on the audio side, so I need something that covers the basics.

Jay Rose "Great Sound for Digital Video" and "Audio Postproduction for Digital Video."
Thomlinson Holman "Sound for Digital Video."
S. Dean Miles "Location Audio Simplified."
F. Alton Everest "Critical Listening Skills for Audio Professionals."
And not to forget, our forum compatriot Ty Ford "Audio Bootcamp."

Thanks! I'll check these out.

Update: Does anyone know if there is a version of Jay Rose's "Great Sound...." book that is newer than the 2002 one? Or if one is planned soon?
