Mics inside the guitar sound different than mics on stands capturing sound coming out. Mics planted in the guitar are generally placed by the bridge. Experiment away though and I'd love to read about your findings so please post.
Another option for recording this particular classical guitar situation is grabbing the audio off the pa or the board. |
Hello Anna,
The Sony ECM 88b on the top snugged next to the fingerboard sounded fine. Slightly brighter than the instrument , so my Martin sounded more like a Taylor. Regards, Ty Ford |
Ty,
Interesting if you're going for a Taylor. Which Martin? |
Hello Anna,
1972 D28 S Martin. The rising frequency response of the ECM 88b puts a twinkly and not unpleasant top end on the Martin. Regards, Ty Ford |

Just put an mp3 for my D28S Martin with the ECM88 Sony lav taped to the top. You can hear me rip the tape off and move the lav a little closer to the sound hole to get more bottom. The Martin doesn't usually sound this twinkly. I sort of like it. hmm, no mp3. Upload gremlin. Check the top level of my online archive for ECM88MartinD28s.mp3 Regards, Ty Ford |
