I have those new Rycote shock mounts.. they came with the new S-series blimp. They are very good, very light weight unbreakable plastic..... but they don't look good. Looks like s@#$... works great!

My ? about both these mics is which will be less susceptible to room reflections?
I don't need extra off axis rejection (in terms of isolating the speaker from other talent or location sounds) b/c I'm doing interviews in living rooms. Presumably the only person who will be talking is the person I want to record. And sometimes the mic will on a boomstand, so I actually like off axis pickup, not rejection, for when there's no boom operator to adjust for head movements. But reflective environments can be a real problem. So I don't know if the 40's cardiod pattern picks up more reflections than the 50 does. Also, do they have the same reach? THANKS MUCH. |
