Two-shot improv coverage
When filming improv between actors, which is difficult for a boom to follow, in addition to lavs, would one recommend putting a single fixed cardioid, or possibly figure-8 mic overhead to pick up both actors, or put a separate hypercardioid on each? (Will using two mics overhead create problems for the post mixer?) Which single mic, or pair of mics, would work best in this capacity? Thanks.

What is the size of the area you are trying to cover?
How physical is the improv? Will the actors be running around? Will they be sitting/kneeling/lying on the ground? Can you tell the actors to stay within a certain area? |
If they are more or less facing each other and not running around a good boom op should be able to track them both, with a hyper card
