I have a 327k mpeg file that shows how to do the over/under method. I coil everything with it, even my headphone cord. It's only 5 seconds but just play it with repeat set on and it'll be obvious how it works. I found it on the Internet years ago.
I just need to know how to post the file now and where. |

I can host it on the DVi site but I'm concerned about copyright. You found this online? Any idea who own it? We'll need permission to show it. |
Here's a Scottish site's explanation of the procedure. Who would have thought that this would become such a long and well-read thread?! But I suppose that cables are something that we all have in common.

I think the trick is to not twist the XLR cable. Let it natrualy go in a circle on it's own. If you are winding up one that is already wacked out, then it will be hard to form it's shape again. But if you just wind it up like an extention cord, then that's not good.
hope that made scince, I'm tired. |
