Okay. I'm going to go get some XLR stuff soon.

The house down payment can wait.

I'm going to get a Beachtek adapter, but would you recommend the AT837 or the Rode NTG-2 as my shotgun mic? Or would you recommend something else in a similar price range?

Depends what you're looking for. Since you're in town, I do have an NTG-1 you can borrow and test out if you want. Just send me an email so we can hook up.
