Videomic vs NTG2
 

I had an xlr fitted onto my videomic and it works "fine" with my A1.

Just wondering if in yere experience is there much of a difference between the videomic and the slightly more expensive NTG-2.

Perhaps the stats say there is but I was hoping for an opinion or 2 from some of you who may have acutal experience with both.

Or if not the NTG-2 then perhaps another mic in that price range.

Only point I see here is that you can use real balanced/powered cables that will not pick up any noise/signals from mobile phones and such that occur in live event situations all the time. I have many recordings ruined by some incoming SMS or even muted cellular signals. Other than this there won`t be really big differences I guess but in the other hand sound is my weak side.
I have used AKG blueline mics and on many occasions I like the ones made with videomic much more as it is more sensitive and more foolproof than this $800 blueline I have because i don`t have decent mixer or preamp for it...

The NTG series have a tighter pattern - are more directional - than is the Videomic and better noise figures.

I have no experience with the Videomic but what I can tell you is I'm looking to purchase an NTG-2 for use on my boom pole to replace my Sennheiser ME66 shotgun, based on my experience with the NTG-2 at my former day job. At the price point, the NTG-2 is a monster! It's not going to replace the 416 etc for SERIOUS film work but for the television and corporate work that I do, it's a GREAT solution.
