Advices to choise 200$ wireless lavmic
 

Hi to all,

I use a HVR-HD1000 with Rode NTG-2.
I would like to use a wireless lavemic for some itw.
But I have'nt big budget for this.

Can you show me some items to watch please.

First, I'm ready to not have the 1500$ Sennheiser systeme ; ). I don't compare.

I would like to find something decent for my budget.

The Sennheiser G2 100 series mics at about $500 US for a basic setup is about as low as you should go for serious work. See here ... http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...00_Series.html

You can find cheaper wireless rigs but you get what you pay for.

I agree the sennheiser 100 g2 is the std at the low end, I have two sets and cant fault them.

What do you think for the Audio Technica PRO-88W ?

Actually 500$ is over buget

The Audio Technica Pro 88 is the best wireless in its price range.

I have used one for several years, and it works well.

The system has two channels to choose from. Make sure you get the right two channels for where you will use it.

I use the mic in theaters and studios and have had good look. When I used the particular one I have in Europe (I don't recall the country), I got intermittent RF interference, I'm sure the right frequency would have solved that.

Make sure you use the 830 mic. It is an excellent mic. Don't use the other mics available for the unit.

Do you think the frenquency range of the PRO-88W will works in France without interferences if I buy it outside europe ?

I don't know which is best for you location. Perhaps you can email Audio Technica. Maybe someone on the forum knows.

I have used the audio tech's a lot and they are OK as vhf radio mics go but be prepared for shashes and possible break up's. I find that uhf mics are a lot more robust and that is why I paid the extra $$ and switched to sennheiser.

AKG used to do a low cost uhf radio mic but I dont know if the receiver was portable.

I will back up what Jack has said. Is the Pro88 as good as the Audio Technica T101? No, but for a fraction the price it is a very good performer. I also highly concur on the AT830 lavalier being the ideal mic for it, though I cannot say "don't use any of the other ones".

How far away will the wireless transmitter be from the receiver? Anything under 50 feet or so and the Pro88 is good and solid. The drop outs and other problems start to pop up at longer ranges - even though AT says the range is 200-300 feet don't bank on that except under ideal situations.
