I need a sound

OKay, there's lawyer drama, I believe it's The Practice--and every time they transition from one day to another, a black screen comes up with text denoting the day and time, accompanied by a sound, like a punctuated metallic thud with a touch of musicality to it. I'd like to find something similar to this sound for my own uses, and I don't know where to begin. I don't even know what you'd call this sound. . .let alone where to find it online. I believe I've heard the same thing in a commercial or two. Come on, somebody. . .anybody. . .someone must know what I'm talking about. Help me!

is the sound short enough that you could just use it "sample " it ?

from what i remember about the sound it sounds like audio was either slowed down or the pitch was lowered

reverse engineer it ? get the sound from TV show .. put it into sound editor .. i would 1st raise the pitch 1-3 semi tones and you might hear a clear/better metal sound from it ... for the low end speed it up 1st - then try raising pitch to hear it better ...

if you can identify it as metal hitting metal then you know where to begin recording ...

It almost sounds more a low note on a piano or a bass. . .but altered somehow.

I can hear the sound you want, but, can't find it either. It's like the "windows exclamation" only much lower. (Kind of like a low sound coming to a sudden stop) This'll end up being like the search for the "Jag" teletype sound everyone was searching for.

Well, I recorded some low single notes from my dad's piano. . .doesn't quite sound right. I added a kick drum to it, still not quite there.

Have you tried www.a1freesoundeffects.com? Can't vouch for it, but saw it referenced in another forum.
