Which Azden shotgun for GL2?

I know it has probably been discussed many times before but what is the recommendation for an Azden shotgun mic for the GL2. Should it be the Sgm-2x, SGM-1x, SGM-X? I have heard some discussion that the 2x is too long and shows up in the lens, and the SGM-x has only a mini jack and I will see a marked loss in audio quality--any opinions or better than that any experiences?

Thanks

I use the 2X with my XM2, and you can push the mic back in the support and it wonīt show.

The marked loss in audio quality in this subject usually comes in play when using long cable runs and not using Balanced XLR... But when the mic is on camera I donīt think that mini jack will affect the sound.
When I use my mic on-camera I just use an XLR to minijack adapter, and never had any problems.

Regarding which mic is right..
I have never used the other two... I guess it will depend on what are you using it for, and how much budget you have...

I can tell you that Iīm pretty happy with my 2X... but If I was going to use it just as an On-camera, I would have probably chosen one of the cheaper models.

I have the 2X as well, and one thing you don't want to forget is that it can be unscrewed and reduced in size. I did some run and gun doc style shooting where I used it in reduced form mounted on the cam, and it performed very well.

I have the 1x and have been very happy with it. I mostly use it off the camera as a boom. On the camera it is a bit long and will appear in the field of view at wide angle, unless you use some sort of extension mount, or adjust the mic further back in the holder and remove the windscreen.

As to the sound, I love it. I've never found it to be noisy, or to color the sound.

I use a studio 1 XLR-Pro adapter and a 9" cable when on the camera, and a 25' or 50' when used as a boom.
