Microphone for interview
 

I'll be making a video that will have interviews of people, and am looking for a microphone that will clip on and either plug into an XL1s or something wireless that will work with the XL1s.

Can someone point me in the right direction? I've been reading and searching, but haven't really come up with anything.

Do some reading of back posts and hit a few of the totorials on sites that have been linked in the posts. i know i've posted these links several times in the past few weeks.

it sounds like what you are after is a lavolier or lav mic. do some reading on them and some of the different kinds of mics.

thanks for the links, guess i wasn't searching with the right terms. here is what i think i'm going to do.

Audio Technica 25 ft. omnidirectional lavalier $155
Beachteck DXA-4A XLR Audio Adapter $169
Yamaha MG 10/2 $99

Does anyone see a problem with this setup?

Which AT and what do you need the yamaha for? The lav and beach should be fine. if you need a preamp and phantom wait for the new beach tek. being attached to the camera is a real plus.

From what I was reading in the other threads and the two links you sent (especially the kenstone.net one), a mixer would help when recording dialogue. I'll be stationary and there'll be plenty of outlets. I also can use it when recording audio to my computer, it sounds like it might help with the humming noise I've been getting.

it's much cheaper at $40, but i bet it probably doesn't have as good a quality as the other MT-830R...

The 830R needs phantom. try the AT899 . It can use battery or phantom. If you want cheaper try the 803. Did you read the review on the 899 at dv.com?

The beachteks do connect to the camera. The new beach will have phantom and a preamp.

the main reason i picked the 830R was because of the cable length(25ft)...how would i compensate for that with the 803(6 ft)?
the 899 is too much for my budget unfortunately.
phantom means that it will draw power from something else right? either the camera or the mixer?

when do the new beachteks come out?

You still need cable between the beach or camera and the mic power module. 25' is a lot of cable.

Whens it coming out, In Feb or so the whacking great banner on their site says.
