wireless license?

Does anyone know anything or had any expperience re: FCC license or restriction issues when you use a wireless mic? Seem to remember running into this somewhere...

Anyone?

To my knowledge, any of the wireless mics on the market do not require a license.

Actually, it varies from state to state, and the number of units you are using, and if they are VHF or UHF. I don't believe any VHF units require licensing, but if you are using more than 12 units in some states, they still require licensing. We learned this the hard way with a touring show "Stand By Your Man," the life of Tammy Wynette. Went into a house in Watertown, MA, and found we were supposed to have a license. That's the only time I've seen this. Back in the old days, when Nady first came out with wireless guitar units, all non-broadcast outside of the toyband needed a license, but the rules changed, so unless you've got 12 or more UHF's, I'd not worry about it. The local film commission usually has these rules somewhere.
BTW, in CA and UT, I know there are no laws about UHF....FWIW
