I realize I am 'new boot' here, but I think the question of how important stereo in event video requires the question, "what kind of events?" I record high school band footage and stereo is important. The best example I can give is when the band does a fade across the field and back. A note starts on the left and the carry it to the right and swing it back again. That always gives me goose bumps.

I am in this pickle. I just bought a Sony VX2100 primarily for its low-light performance. Still reading posts to figure out what question to ask (but I am betting it is already covered.)

The event that is on the horizon is a production video of a photo shoot. It needs to sound good and professional, but the sound isn't the subject. My main concern is that the sound not be a distraction.
