Douglas, sure thing. I too think it would be stupid to have those TRS inputs on the front unbalanced if they're part of the Neutrik connector.

That's why I'm getting annoyed cause they don't seem to know their arse from their elbow. One person says one thing, the manual says another, the website another. I mean the manual and website say the 1/4" jacks on the front are TS which would indicate to me, unbalanced. The website and the manual list 2 different s/n ratios, etc etc. Go figure.

But, for my use, I am specifically interested in knowing whether the XLR inputs are balanced. Does a "Neutrik connector" automatically imply a balanced input?

I went ahead and bought a USBPre 1.5. Just got it in today. I'll let everybody know what I think of it very soon.

Hey Spot, the link for the Firewire410 is screwed up. It has your review of the firestore instead and it says the 410 is $1995 which is the firestore price.

There's a couple of high end units no one has yet mentioned.
Apogee miniMe and Grace Designs Lunatec.

Neither of these units is cheap, but they are both known for great sound.
The Lunatec is only AES/EBU out however and the miniMe is USB.

I wish they would add a firewire port.

I'm not quite sure if this would work for you, but have you looked at the Korg D-12? I had one, and it handled almost everything... except power interruptions.
