Listen to 416, Mk012, and NT1000 on acoustic music.

Here's a 416 on voice and an Oktava Mk012 on the guitar... the 416 is boomed overhead and the Oktava is on a stand in front of the guitar. The first 30 seconds of this clip are the warm up... then the song starts.

Next I have a couple NT1000s which can be found anywhere for $299 and sometimes around $200. These are some of my favorite large-diaphragm mics... but the environment must be controlled 100% to get good results.

Both of these clips were done by simply plugging the mics into a dvx... They aren't perfect... but this was just an informal jam session with some friends. Both of these clips are Elliot Genther on voice and guitar... and he wrote these songs too by the way.

Well I formatted these to be tiny urls... but it just showed all the formatting and not the tiny url! So you guys have to cut and paste into your address bar... sorry about that... I don't know what the problem is with the forum or my formatting! (edited)

Well I guess that answers the question of whether you can use a 416 shotgun for vocals. Sounded pretty darn good.

Maybe that could be a slogan "The 416 by Sennheiser, it's not just for dialogue anymore".

Thanks for the clips.

Thanks for the reply Joe!

Yeah, I thought those sounded pretty good... realizing that I did nothing with the tracks... It did get a little loud and harsh just for a brief moment here and there... but since I didn't ride the levels... or even watch them for that matter... I was pretty impressed.

Still no Schoeps though... perfect frequency response, perfect pattern, excellent sensitivity and detail... "sigh".

Seriously though, I thought the 416 did just fine.
