Mic/Sound Forge question

Spot/others.....
I trying to decide the best recording/post production option here....

I want to record ambient sound (DJ...crowd...etc) at wedding receptions into my Marnatz 670. I'm trying to decide to go with just a quality mono condenser mic and and later add an accoustic image in Sound Forge or go with a stero mic like the AT-825....
Thoughts?

You'll be fine doing this, just remember that you'll never recreate the specific ambience of stereo in post. Forge has some decent plugins to help with this, WAVES has some amazing plugs that will convert mono to stereo with reasonably believeable placement. I'd use Vegas with 3 tracks to do this anyway...but; If it's wedding stuff and not entertainment music, it's likely just fine.

USe a sequencer like cubase sx 2 or sonar 3. YOu can add 32 and more audio tracks at once and use the plugins (VST or direct x) to add effects to your audio tracks from yoru cam. YOu can also inmport a video fil ein cubase and work from there, do voice overs, make your vocals sound like they are coming out of a numann.

Examples of the plugins used in CUBASE sx

1) waves plugins (quality EQ plugins)
2) PSP plugins (add that NUmmann analog quality to yuor mic recordings using psp vintage warmer and psp saturator; do a google on it:))
3) you can also download free vst plugs made by you and me from the net: search free vst audio plug-ins). You have some pretty good EQ, compressors, limiters and reverb plugins for free.
4) profesional studios use cubase sx and pro tools to edit their movies so why won't you?
5) soundforge is great for editing 1 audio file at the time. Very basic and the best oput there. Cubase is a sequencer. YOu can add midi tracks as well and produce your own movie soundtracks. VEry eay and straight forward. USe free software samplers and synths and pads and guitar simulation effects. The world can't get better with sequencers. :)
