seperate audio from video
Hello,
I have many DV material from which I only want to use the audio. So I want to seperate the audio from the video before I import it into Audicity. Is there a simple tool to do this. I know I can import the clips into an editor and then export audio only, but that is exactly what I want to avoid. Audicity will NOT import audio only! Thanks, Rob |
You can use Adobe Audition. It will import just the audio from the video or you can try using the software below. I have used it and it worked for me. Hope that helps.

Quicktime will save audio (that for which it has the right codecs) as aiff or wav files; mpegstreamclip (Squared 5 - MPEG Streamclip video converter for Mac and Windows) will also demux audio from a number of sources, including mpeg. Both freeware. / Battle Vaughan

Rob is correct about QT Pro, worked with it for so long I sort of take it as granted...so it's not free, but extremely inexpensive and capable...thanks for the correction! / B Vaughan

I have downloaded Squared 5 - MPEG Streamclip video converter for Mac and Windows and am very happy with it. Does exactly and precisely and fast what I want it to do: seperate audio from vide. Didn't need even a blink into manuals or help. Good stuff. Thanks.
