The brand of mics that I have seen used the most are the Lectrosonics 100 and 200 series.

No ADR? Have you guys ever tried to get good audio with someone
hammering away in the background? A grinder a 100 feet away is louder
than a human 3 feet away.
Mechanical noise ALWAYS sounds MUCH louder than people talking.

Do you notice that there is NEVER any background music playing?
(Other than that the music the editors insert.)
Most mechanics LIKE to have the radio
playing. On one show the talent actually complained that "they" were making
them work without music and that they normally never work that way.
Why? Many reasons. Copyright is a big one.

Tight deadlines vs. audio quality:
I would be a day's pay that whoever is working on
the audio (a team of people probably) is putting in super long hours to
make the deadlines and that they are pouring over every second.
The audio on these shows in really good imo knowing
what kind of challenges they are working against.
