mic recommendation
 

the kit - recording sound into the canon xl2 (16bit) i'm filming on

the location - 10 x 14 foot room, carpeted, bare walls. one of the short walls is almost completely window.

the purpose - shooting dialogue-heavy scenes.

other notes - hardly any ambient noise. the room is very close to silence when we keep schtum. minimal cast and crew - max of four people present at any given time.

major restriction - can only afford £500 tops.

which mic would you recommend?

It's just that this is not the best day and time for quick responses, Jon.

When the heavyweights do check in I believe they are going to recommend an AT8053 or similar mic on a boom pole.

get octavasmike with cardioid and hiper cardioid capsuls , k teck shock mount and some nice boom pool , since you are running dyrectly to the camera ill sudgest add in line filter 60-80 hz to eliminate hangling moise
500 pounds - do have better valiu in the staes with these products - save your national pride and shop cheap in us
if you ll check carfully some of these could be find used in good shape
so used good preamp mixer + used boom and 250 $ octava + 150 for the shock mount thats very realistic for your budget

And don't forget to buy some sound blankets. From what you say, you'll need 'em.

I'm not overly experienced with audio so please pardon my ignorance. Where can I find an inline filter and are there are times one would not want to use it? All my stuff is boomed.
