Audio Format

I've been a hobbist in the editing arena for some time now and only for fun.. However now my company seems to think I need to do it fulltime.. So I've always wondered this following question..

I use WINXP, Premiere Pro 1.5 and have audition. I record all the audio via the camera (PD-150) and know all about Audition and noise reduction. My question pertains to the audio formatting.. What is the best format that premiere works with, I have been using Windows PCM .WAV

I'm just wondering if there is a better format to use and maybe just a brief couple reasons why one is better than the other..

Thanks for your time..

PCM WAVs are your best choice for editing or any kind of intermediate audio file. MP3 or Ogg Vorbis would be an option for emailing, and AC3 is recommended for DVD production, but everything inbetween is best left as WAVs. They're uncompressed (therefore lossless). At 48Khz 16-bit stereo (DV spec), they take up about 11MB per minute.

Thanks again..
