Using MKH-60 with a MKH-70
We just shot a movie.
For dialog, we used a Sennheiser MKH-60 with Rycote setup on a boom pole. We now have a MKH-70, with the appropriate Rycote and boom pole. Is it acceptable to record one actor using the MKH-60 and another actor in the same scene with the MKH-70? Or would it be better using two MKH-60's. Before we purchaed the MKH-70, we consulted with Sennheiser and they said both mikes will sound the same for close up dialog. We will be testing this before our next shoot. However, I wanted to learn from the experiences of others. Thanks for your assistance. |
I think Sennheiser has it right. Remember, since people sound
different, the mic discrepancy shouldn't be too obvious. NOW, OTOH, if you had a MKH-60 and a Shure SM-57, that wouldn't work as they sound radically different. |
Dear Jacques,
I appreciate you taking the time to confirm Sennheiser's advice. I also appreciate you sharing your experience. Thank you. |
