Audio Technica Pro24 and Pro24cm

Hi Guys,

a couple of years ago I bought an Audio Technica Pro24, originally for my HV20, but it sucked. The output level is extremely low, even manually fully open. A new battery was not helpful and it never got a second chance. Also the whitenoise level is pretty high.
Now I have seen that there is kind like a special version out which is called Pro24cm, it comes with a camera shoe mount and a shorter cable but is there any difference to the old Pro24 in regard to sensitivity and output level? I have also seen a test on the youtube and it was much louder but the guy seemed to use some phantom voltage to run it on his cam. Would it be helpful to get a powersupply for the mic? if yes, any recommendations?

Thanks

Axel

The pro24cm is the exact same mic that you've already got, with 20cents of plastic shoe mount added to it.

I've always said, "If it says 'pro' in the name, it's not."

Yes, those are Audio-Technica mics, but they're consumer devices at best. They are powered by the internal battery or by plug-in power (NOT phantom) from your camera.

If you want a better on-cam mic and only have an 1/8" jack, look at the Rode VideoMic.
