Sennheiser MKE-2 on a Sony UTX-B2

Hi,

is there a chance to get a MKE-2 working on a Sony UTX-B2? Both have the same connector, but when i plug the MKE2 into the UTX-B2 i get no Sound? Is there anywhere an adapter available? Any Ideas?
Thanks.

I could be wrong, but I believe Sony wires their mics differently.

Paul's right - I had to do this (rewire a mic from Senn 3.5mm to Sony 3.5mm).

I never found any adaptors. Somewhere I have the wiring diagram I worked out, if you're interested. I had to cut off the molded 3.5mm locking plug, and replace it with one I bought from Markertek, some fine soldering was called for.

One could make an adaptor instead of rewiring...

I'm not sure how the Sony is wired - but the Sennheiser 3.5mm mini-jack is wired:-

Tip = +ve and power
Ring = shorted to sleeve (this is the line input on evo. transmitters)
Sleeve = screen

Sony 3.5mm pinout:
tip=signal, ring=bias, sleeve=ground

For my project, which was rewiring a sennheiser mic to a sony WRT-805a transmitter, I also had to put an 1/8W 3.3K (2.2K to 4.7K should work also) resistor inside the plug, from tip to sleeve, to provide micpower.

Hey guys, thanks for the input. I will try my luck.
