The Right Mic

Hi all,

I have just brought a Sony Z1, i need a microphone that is great sound but not too costly.

Will they fit in the mic Holder, i know the sony ecm range do.

How are the Rode ntg-2 or sennheiser hold up?

Many Thanks

Ollie

Search, there's a lot of info on the topic of short shotgun mics. The NTG1/2 is my personal favorite. They will fit in the mic holder. If the mic is too small for some reason you can always wrap some gaff tape around it to make it bigger.

Try looking at te AT 897 as well. Its in the same ballpark as the Rode NTG-2, cost-wise. Sounds great.

Ollie,

I suggest you check out the AT875R:
good quality, small, very cheap.

Best

I've used the NTG-1 with Z1 and got good results with it. I'm pretty sure the NTG-2 is the same mic but it can take batteries.

However, I had it mounted mounted using the rode shockmount rather than in the Z1's mic holder (it was a rental and the mic holder was broken) so I can't comment on the fit.
