Sennheiser wireless mic compatability
I need a Sennheiser wireless microphone and am having a hard time telling which ones are compatable with a EW100 G2 system. I do not want a G2 plug in transmitter.
Are the G3 wireless mics compatable with a G2 system? Thanks for any help. |
G2, G3 and 2000 series are all compatible with each other, as long as you stay in the same frequency ranges. G1 are compatible as well, but do not support the "pilot" tone.

Two things to note:- 1) make sure the same frequency is on both units. 2) if you use a G1 transmitter with a G2, G3 or 2000 series receiver you have to switch "pilot off" on the receiver. |
Thanks you guys.
I ordered the SKM 100-835 from B&H. |
I wish I had known about the frequency issue. At a wedding, I had a Sennheiser 'C' band mic on the bride and groom, and an MP3 recorder on the officiant. I picked up some subtle interference.

Dude, you almost made me spray water all over my monitor watching your clip. Was that for real?!?

Maybe.

LoL - brilliant ;-D |
This isn't interferance, the C band frequencies have been re-assigned to the public service / emergency service users and in fact, the FCC has issued a notice that C-band wireless use is illegal going forward, from, iirc, June 1. Fortunately, Sennheiser has offered a trade-up program for units that are obsoleted by this spectrum change.
