Note that the considerations for a video tripod are often very different from those in selecting one for still camera use. Also be ready for sticker shock - the price for a decent lightweight set of sticks and fluid pan head can easily exceed the price you paid for the camera by a good margin.

Yea, tell me about it! [chuckle]

When I did a quick search for the Bogen quick release mentioned earlier I came across some other Bogen "items". To wit, tripods and fluid pan heads. And like you mentioned, one of the pan heads - just a few numbers from the quick release, was in the neighborhood of $750.00 (!).

So, yes, your statement is so true. Especially considering that my camera, a JVC HD7 was given to me by a relative. Even so, in the true HD mode the first pictures on our TV were truly awsome. The sound, however, was another story and that's where my emphasis is at the moment.

Because I'm a low-budget one-man operation the tripod will be a little more difficult to find because it will have to be both good and lightweight. Many of the real professional models are tanks, and that goes for the heads too.

And that would be considered a moderately priced head in the pro video world ...
