Sennheiser MKH 816T
hi
A friend of mine has a Sennheiser MKH 816T and I was wondering hat even though its 25 years old is it still a good mic? It is in good working order.. thanks mat |
You might want to check it for rust or anything like that, but it was/is a great mic. The Audobon Society used to use this model for recording birds. John Feith, the engineer who designed the Noise Reduction Filter for Sony, uses one of these for field use regularly.
Only question on a used one is whether anything has been compromised due to elements or being shelved. |

I have an 816 P48. I seldom use it, but it does what it does wery nicely. Used to to cqpture nat sound for NBC nightly news a few months back to capture the sounds of some guys tossing a football around. The leather to hand smacks were very nice, even from 15 feet or so. Regards, Ty Ford |
Thanks for the help..
I did a search on Google to find alot of people using it for recording bird song! I take it it is very sensitive! Could be good when you need to be far from the actors.. |
Again; only on a set or VERY far away from other noises.
